Eddie Reese has attended the past 36 NCAA championships, and he remains astounded at the times being put on the scoreboard. This year, he did not expect to see such fast swimming as what took place on the opening day, but he said he gave his Texas Longhorns the tools to be able to swim as fast as they did.

In this interview with the media, he talked about working on underwater dolphin kicking and correct breathing patters being two of the keys to fast swimming. He spent a good deal of the interview detailing the work Clark Smith has put in to be able to win the 500 freestyle, including a set of 10-yard freestyles that had Reese speechless.

“Those are the ones you coach for free,” he said.
