Dylan Sali Impresses at Day Three of Ithaca Sectionals

ITHACA– Dylan Sali succeeded in claiming two wins at today’s finals session of the Ithaca Speedo Sectionals.

Helen Grossman of Central Jersey Aquatic Club kicked off the third night with a first-place finish of 2:02.36 in the women’s 200 fly. Casey Lawson of New Jersey Race Club finished second with a 2:04.72. Elizabeth Aldrich of Manchester Swim Team took third with a 2:06.20.

Carl St John, swimming unattached, finished first in the men’s 200 fly with a time of 1:49.89. Griffin Hutton of Princeton Piranhas Swim Team and Zachary Pear of Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club raced for second with Hutton claiming the title with a time of 1:51.27. Pear took third with a 1:51.35.

Weymouth Club Waves’ Haylee Knight claimed first in the women’s 50 free with a 23.35. Manhattan Mako’s Gabrielle Hillis finished close behind with a 23.58. Danielle Griggs of the Monmouth Barracudas took third with a 23.66.

Unattached Dylan Sali swam an impressive 20.44 to win the men’s 50 free. He was followed to the wall by Matthew Marsh of Town of Tonawanda Titans Swim who touched with a 20.74. Matchpoint NYC’s Ariel Okhtenberg with a 21.09.

Mary Christensen of Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and Sophie Angus of Weston Swimming Inc tied for first-place in the women’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.27. Miranda Bacon of Schenectady-Saratoga Swim Club claimed a close third with a time of 2:18.79.

The men’s 200 breaststroke proved to be another quick race with the top two finishers touching within .17 seconds of each other. Victor Luo, swimming unattached, won out with a 1:58.34. Crimson Aquatics’ Anthony Marcantonio claimed a close second with a time of 1:58.51. Laguardia Aquatic Club’s Evan Zhang finished third with a 2:00.58.

Christina Paspalas of Phoenix Aquatic Club, unattached Salena Huang and Haylee Knight of the Weymouth Club Waves swam to a close finish in the 100 back. Paspalas out-touched Huang and Knight by .03 seconds with a time of 54.96. Huang and Knight tied for second with a 54.99.

Sali claimed his second win of the night in the men’s 100 back with a time of 47.19. Drew Modrov, also swimming unattached, took second with a 49.24. Marcantonio finished third with a 49.31.

Erin Falconer of Patriot Aquatic Club dashed to a quick finish in the women’s 500 free finishing with a swift 4:48.36, dropping over seven seconds. Caroline Wilson of the Jersey Gators claimed second with a 4:55.27, while Natalie Eid of Badger Swim Club, Inc took a close third with a 4:55.51.

Modrov and Graham Barrett of the South Shore YMCA Strypers raced to a quick finish in the men’s 500 free. After dropping 5.69 seconds from his prelims time, Modrov claimed the win with a 4:32.38. Barrett finished close behind with a 4:32.61. Patriot Aquatic Club’s Nicholasgeorge Koto was third with a 4:36.46.
