“I thought we had a great start. Our veterans that were used to stepping up did a great job of stepping up,” said Brian Schrader head swim coach. “Drew Matthews, Sam Corea, Johanna Roas, Amanda Sanders; all really solid on the women’s side. Maddie Myers is a freshman who stepped up, same with Heidi Bradley. On our men’s side it was really fun seeing Ray Bornman make an appearance. Clearly he is going to have an impact on our team. But our veterans on the men’s side, stepped up too. Taylor Bunch was outstanding today. Tim Cottam stepped into a new role today; just fun seeing people find a way. A nice shout out to Ben Severino who went a 51 in the 4 X100 IM relay. It was a fun way to start the day and I could not be more excited. We got better as the meet went on and it is a relay meet so its all fun. …. It will be interesting to see what we build off next weekend against CSU and Omaha (women) and then on the Men’s side Mines.”

Coming in with a strong start, the Pioneer women completed the 3 x 100 Back Relay in 2:49.22. The relay was lead by senior captain, Sam Corea (55.43), junior Zoe Huddleston kept the relay strong with a time of 53.02, anchoring Johanna Roas, sophomore, went a 49.22, finishing off the win.

Both the women’s and men’s team will have competitions on Saturday, Oct. 18th. The men’s team will hit the road, competing against Colorado School of Mines (M) in Golden, while the women will stay at home and compete against CSU (W) and Omaha (W).
