Doud Helps U.S. Women’s Water Polo National Team to 1-1 Record in World League Play

TEMPE, Ariz., July 11. ADDISON Doud, a member of the Arizona State University water polo team, helped the U.S. Women’s National ‘B’ Team to a 1-1 record over the weekend at the FINA World League preliminary round held July 7-9 in Quebec City, Canada. Doud, who scored a pair of goals, helped the American side advance to the FINA World League Semifinals set for July 12-16 in Los Alamitos, Calif.

The Americans opened the preliminary round action on July 7 with a 10-8 defeat of Brazil. Late in the third quarter with the score tied at six, Doud collected a pass on the counter attack and scored her first goal to put the U.S. back on top heading into the final period of play. After the Brazilians leveled the score, Doud again put the Americans on top as she scored on a backhand attempt from center set. The second game came July 9 with the U.S. falling to host Canada, 11-9. Doud saw action in the contest, but did not score.

Doud now joins up with the Junior National squad for more training sessions before heading to Europe for a pair of competitions, including the Pythia Cup (July 21-23) in Athens, Greece, and the Citta di Rapallo (July 27-30) in Rapallo, Italy.
