Yale University got a very talented distance swimmer for next year’s freshman class, as Kendall Brent announced her intentions to become a Yale Bulldog next fall.

Brent is just outside of qualifying for the NCAA championships in the 500 freestyle with her 4:47.46 and in the 1650 freestyle with her best time of 16:24.53. Whether or not she qualifies for the Big Meet in her freshman year, she will bring big points to Yale in the Ivy League championships in those events.

Brent will swim the 400 and 800 freestyles at the Olympic Trials next year for Swim Florida before heading to Connecticut to start her college career at Yale. She earned her lifetime best 8:43.27 in the 800 with a fifth-place finish at last summer’s junior nationals, and was seventh in the 1500 free with a 16:33.87. Her best long course time of 4:15.19 in the 400 free came in the finals at last March’s NCSA championships, where she finished third. She was also second in the 800 free at that meet.

Brent was a part of the American squad that traveled to Ireland last May to compete in the Irish nationals. She finished second in the 800 free and 1500 free at that meet.
