Destin Lasco, Vinny Marciano Finish Weekend Tied for 11-12 50-Yard Back NAG

PISCATAWAY/SEWELL, New Jersey, March 17. AFTER an exciting intra-state battle between Destin Lasco at the Middle Atlantic Swimming Junior Olympics and Vinny Marciano at the New Jersey Swimming Junior Olympics, the duo finished the weekend tied for the 11-12 50-yard backstroke National Age Group record.

The two traded the record back and forth this weekend, along with also trading the 100-yard backstroke mark, before tying with a 24.56 in the 50-yard back.

Lasco posted that time in individual competition, breaking Marciano’s record of 24.61 set on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Marciano leadoff Morris County’s 200-yard medley relay with a 24.56 of his own.

The pair are likely to be battling for years to come, with plenty of opportunities to meet head-to-head in regional action.
