Destin Lasco Downs Own 11-12 U.S. National Age Group Record in 100 Back

SEWELL, New Jersey, January 20. A day after taking down Seth Beer’s 11-12 U.S. National Age Group record in the 50-yard back at the MA Elite Meet, Pleasantville Aquatics’ Destin Lasco cleared 54 seconds for the 100-yard backstroke record on Sunday.

Lasco hit the wall in 53.54 in the 100-yard backstroke to lower his own record of 54.03 that he set at the Speedo Tom Dolan Invitational live on SwimmingWorld.TV last month. Prior to Lasco entering the 11-12 scene, Ryan Murphy held the record with a 54.20.

Lasco had a strong 10-and-under career, still holding national age group records in the 50 yard back (27.96) and 100 yard back (59.81) in that age division, and he now holds two of the three 11-12 NAGs in backstroke with Murphy’s 1:55.21 from 2008 still in his sights.

Here is video from his 54.03 set last month at the Tom Dolan.
