RICHMOND, Virginia, August 6.  JUST about a week or so since blasting Ryan Murphy’s 11-12 200-meter backstroke national age group record at the Middle Atlantic Junior Olympics, 12-year-old Destin Lasco was back at it again at the Eastern Zone Long Course Championships.

Lasco, who swims for Pleasantville Aquatics, charged to a 2:10.39 in the 200-meter backstroke tonight.  That effort cut another second off his previous record of 2:11.59 set at the MA JOs, which originally crushed Murphy’s 2008 mark of 2:13.91.

Lasco split his race today 30.77, 1:03.53 (32.76), 1:37.41 (33.88) and 2:10.39 (32.98).

Lasco then came back later in the evening with a 55.04 (26.63, 28.41) to set the 100-meter freestyle record.  That time cleared the previous mark of 55.45 set by Preston Padden in 2010.
