Denmark’s Jacobsen Given “Warning” by FINA Doping Panel

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, July 22. THE FINA Doping Panel issued a warning and reprimand to Danish swimmer Mette Jacobsen today, following a hearing on July 20.

Jacobsen did not declare the use of Glucocorticosteroids (Prednisone and Prednisolone) in accordance with the International Standard for TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) at the European Championships in Madrid on May 16, 2004.

LEN — the Ligue Européenne de Natation — Europe's governing body for competitive swimming, will now consider disqualifying the Danish swimmer and canceling her results in accordance with FINA Rule DC 9, which calls for such actions following any anti-doping violation in connection with an in-competition test.
