Denison’s Kristen Hohl Leads ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American At-Large Women’s Team

TOWSON, Maryland, June 12. KRISTEN Hohl, a senior swimmer at Denison University, led the College Division of the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Women's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Honored as a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's At-Large College Division first team for the third straight year, Hohl is a Biology major with a 3.97 G.P.A. A 22-time All-American, she was a member of three NCAA champion relay teams in 2009. A native of Winfield, Illinois, she was part of the Big Red's national champion 200-medley relay, 400-medley relay and 200-free relay teams. Hohl helped Denison set NCAA Division III records in the 200- and 400-medley relays.

The winner of an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, Hohl helped Denison finish third at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet while leading the Big Red to back-to-back North Coast Athletic Conference titles. During her career, she won 11 NCAC individual titles and set six school records. Inducted into the Denison chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, she holds membership in Sigma Xi, the scientific research society.

Meanwhile, senior Hilary Bowen of the Northwestern women's lacrosse team topped the University Division team.

Stanford's Elaine Breeden, Georgia's Lisa Caprioglio, Texas' Kathryn Kelly, Indiana's Christina Loukas and Navy's Kelly Zahalka earned spots on the First Team University Division, while Truman State's Kate Aherne, St. Cloud State's Kelsey Berkeland, Kenyon's Elizabeth Carlton, Wisconsin-LaCrosse's Chelsea Hoff, Kenyon's Tracy Menzel and Calvin's Cara Van Woerkom joined Hohl on the First Team College Division.
