Davis Aquadarts Teammates Make College Decisions

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 11. ALEX Rieger and Jonathan Pun, teammates at the Davis Aquadarts in Davis, Calif., have made their college decisions. Rieger has verbally committed to Georgia Tech, while Pun will attend the University of Pacific in the fall of 2014.

Rieger, who is listed as the 12th-ranked recruit out of California, should make an immediate impact in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events at Georgia Tech. She has already posted times of 23.35 in the 50 free, 51.45 in the 100 free and 56.54 in the 100 back. Her 200 back time is solid as well at 2:04.01. All four of those times came at the 2013 NCSA Junior Nationals in March.

Pun, the 33rd-ranked recruit out of California, is an exceptional breaststroker who’s skills should pay huge dividends at the University of Pacific. His top time in the 100 breast is a 56.49, and he’s also gone a 2:03.13 in the 200 and 26.49 in the 50. He could also contribute in the 50 free, with a best time of 21.73. Both his 100 and 200 times are only a couple of seconds off Pacific’s current school records in those events, times he’ll definitely be chasing once he arrives in Stockton.
