Dave Gibson is New Mecklenburg Aquatics Head Coach

CHARLOTTE, NC, September 9. DAVE Gibson is the new Head Coach/CEO of the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club (MAC) in Charlotte, NC. He replaces Pat Hogan, who took the position of Club Development Director with USA Swimming.

MAC has 610 swimmers and 16 coaches. It owns an indoor 10 lane-50m x 22 lane-25 yard swim center, plus it rents four other facilities. It also runs a swim school, Masters team, facility memberships as well as a swim shop.

Dave's wife, Jennifer, has been hired as the team's Program Director. She will also coach MAC's Nova group, which is the team's first competitive group and its Senior Red group.

Jennifer was just re-elected to the ASCA Board of Directors at the World Clinic last week in San Diego.

Both Dave and Jennifer coached at Fort Wayne Aquatics, in Fort Wayne, IN. — Dave for 22 years, Jennifer for 20. Dave was the Head Coach and Jennifer was the Head Age Group Coach.

Some of the Gibsons' past swimmers are: Steve Bigelow (1988 USA Olympic Team 200m backstroke), Lia Oberstar (American record-holder 200 scm backstroke & NCAA Champion 200y butterfly), Michala Kwasny (USA National Junior Team & PAC 10 Champion for USC), Jon Denney, Carter Cast, Bart Wickard, Becky Wilson and Erin Morris.

Coach dave Gibson commented: "MAC is a great team and program because of its professional coaching staff, enthusiastic and hard-working parents and dedicated swimmers. This is such a wonderful atmosphere to coach and work in. I look forward each day to going to work."
