Dartmouth v. Maine

ORONO, Maine, February 2. JUNIOR Kevin Ellis earned wins in three different events to lead the Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team to a 187-110 victory over Maine.

The Big Green won 14-of-16 events in the meet, including placing in first and second in 10 of those 14 events.

Ellis took first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:46.36, while also swimming to a win in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:41.65. He didn't stop there as Ellis earned the victory with a time of 1:59.68 in the 200 yard individual medley.

Senior Gordon Russell swam to a victory in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 0:54.83. He was also a member of both wins in the medleys for the Big Green.

Russell, along with senior Drew Wenzel, freshman Marco Chu and junior Alex Fidel won the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:40.36.

On the diving side, senior Andrew Berry finished in the top spot in both diving events. He scored a 338.02 in the 1-meter dive, while taking the 3-meter dive with score of 346.85.

For the women, junior Heather Jankins posted victories in four events to lift the Dartmouth women's swimming and diving over Maine, 174-126.

Jankins swam to her first win with sophomore Carolyn Rippe, senior Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Maddie Steiner in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:03.65.

She added another win in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.16 and took the 200 yard breaststroke as well with a time of 2:27.40. Her final win came in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 0:24.87.

Joining Jankins, was senior Megan Crapster who set a new season-high in the 200 yard individual medley, swimming to the win with a time of 2:13.35. Freshman Lindsay Wahl took home first place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.60.

On the diving side, senior Julianne Mifflin earned wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. With a score of 288.08 in the 1-meter dive, Mifflin qualified for the NCAA Zones as she has reached the total points needed with her dive today. In the 3-meter dive, Mifflin finished first with a score of 269.47.
