Curl-Burke Lending Support to Hurricane Katrina Cause

DAMASCUS, Maryland. September 25. THE Curl-Burke Swim Club has planned a second running of its successful United We Swim event. After the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Curl-Burke challenged clubs across the country to stage a swim for the victims’ families. It raised more than $50,000.

On October 2, there will be another challenge, this time to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the affected USA Swimming LSCs in the Gulf. Curl-Burke will have the support of the community and its team sponsor, Speedo.

CUBU has planned a 1,650-yard swim for those 13 & over, a 1,000-yard swim for 11-12 year-olds, and a 500-yard swim for those 10 and under. The fundraiser will take place at the Audrey Moore Recreation Center. Participants' contributions are fully tax deductible and tax ID receipts will be available.

For contributions of $25, swimmers will receive an event cap. For $75, they will receive a cap and a t-shirt and for a contribution of $100, swimmers will get a bonus raffle ticket for a special raffle at the end of the event.
