CSCAA Releases Initial 2006-07 Division I Dual Meet Rankings

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 19. THE 2006-07 season has started and the Auburn Tigers and California Golden Bears sit atop the first men's and women's CSCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Dual Meet polls, respectively. Each school garnered a total of 239 points and collected seven first-place votes.

One of SwimmingWorldMagazine.com's first Meets of the Week will feature the No. 19 men of Arizona State against UNLV on Friday at 5 p.m., in Tempe, Ariz.

Rounding out the top 10 teams on the women's side are Florida, Auburn (receiving a first-place vote), Arizona, Georgia, Stanford, Southern California, Southern Methodist, Texas A&M, and Michigan. In all, seven conferences are represented in the top twenty-five. The PAC-10 Conference led the way with six teams earning rankings. In addition to the previously mentioned in the top ten are UCLA (12) and Oregon State (tie 25).

In the men's top 10, Auburn is followed by Stanford (receiving a first-place vote), Florida, Texas, Arizona, California, Southern California, Northwestern, Georgia and Minnesota. With six teams in the top twenty-five, the SEC leads the nine different conferences that are represented in the poll. Other than Auburn, Florida, and Georgia the SEC is being represented by Tennessee (14), Kentucky (18), and Alabama (22).

This year's poll will be published nine times and the champions will be crowned on February 22, 2007. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters, have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation bi-weekly throughout the season. Additionally, the group of pollsters is completely different for the men's and women's rankings. This poll should not be confused with the results of the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving championships that will take place in March.
