Connor discusses how his 500 freestyle on the first night of Winter Nationals wasn’t “on” but Jaeger feels he got better as the meet progressed. He then discusses the feeling of setting the American Record in the 1650 freestyle and how the distance swimmers at Michigan made it a priority to return the record to the Wolverines.

Connor says in the 1650, Coach Josh White challenged him to be eight seconds or so faster at the 1000 yard split than previous swims because he “had nothing to lose” in doing so.

The topic then turns to the American record Katie Ledecky set in the women’s 1650 the heat prior to Jaeger.

Host Jeff Commings then asks Connor which long-course event he prefers, the 400 meter freestyle or the 1500 meter free, and Jaeger’s answer was a bit surprising. Which event did he choose? Watch the video to find out.
