Connor Jaeger Drives Home 3rd-Best 1500 Free in World

Club Wolverine’s Connor Jaeger posted the third-best 1500 free of the year as he won the title at the Arena Pro Swim Series Santa Clara.

Jaeger put up a top time of 14:56.43 for the win, bettering his third-ranked 14:58.13 from the Charlotte stop of the Series.

Only Gregorio Paltrinieri (14:43.87) and Mack Horton (14:44.09) have been faster this year.

The Woodlands’ Michael McBroom, who collected the 400 and 800 freestyle titles earlier this week, managed to take second in 15:02.56 to move to 12th in the world rankings.

Trojan’s Ous Mellouli snagged third overall in 15:18.02, while FIAT’s Miguel Valenta placed fourth in 15:24.63.

Gator’s True Sweetser (15:26.20), Yale’s Kei Hyogo (15:26.59), Azura Florida’s Marcelo Acosta (15:29.22), California’s Janardan Burns (15:30.45) and Zane Grothe (15:31.85) closed out the top nine in the timed final event.
