Complete Coaching Staff for Michigan Swimming and Diving Named

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, August 30. WITH the first day of classes set to begin Tuesday at the University of Michigan, student-athletes on the newly-combined men's and women's teams can start the fall semester knowing a full coaching staff awaits them.

Head coach Mike Bottom will be joined on deck by two associate head coaches and two assistant coaches at Canham Natatorium. Swimming World previously reported that Josh White and Rick Bishop will serve as the team's associate head coaches. The team combined programs earlier this month after the women's team saw longtime coach Jim Richardson resign.

Mark Hill and Danielle Tansel will work as assistant coaches, with Hill entering his fourth season with the Wolverines. In those previous three seasons, however, Hill served as volunteer assistant coach.

Tansel comes from Southern Methodist University for her first season at Michigan. The Mustangs at SMU won the Conference USA title last season with Tansel as assistant coach, and she helped guide three SMU swimmers through competition at the London Olympics.

Bottom, White and Hill recently served as coaches at the London Olympics, working with Club Wolverine postgrads including Milorad Cavic and Wu Peng and helping coach first-time Olympian Connor Jaeger.
