Colorado School of Mines, Wyoming vs. Northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colorado, January 28. THE Wyoming swimming and diving teams competed at two separate locations on Saturday, but each had excellent performances. The Cowgirl swimmers defeated Northern Colorado and Colorado School of Mines 162-92 and 170-61, respectively. The Cowboy swimmers also swam against CSM defeating it 160-94. While the UW swimmers were competing in Greeley, Colo., the UW divers dove at the Air Force Diving Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo., and had another excellent day of scoring.

In today's swimming action the Cowboys and Cowgirls both swam against Colorado School of Mines, while just the Cowgirls swam against Northern Colorado. Both teams controlled the meet from beginning to end combining for 24 event wins, with the women winning 14 events and the men winning 10.

"We handled both UNC and School of Mines pretty well today," Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said. "We left a lot of our fastest kids and home and some of our younger kids had some really solid times."

Starting things off right for the Cowgirls was the 400-yard medley relay team of Jordan Denny, Stephanie Young, Shelby Bull and Melanie McDonough who won with a time of 4:02.02.

Sophomore Young led the way for the Cowgirls winning three events on the day. She swept the breaststroke events winning the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.40 and the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.82. She also touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley finishing with a time of 2:14.44.
