College Women Post Multiple “B” Standards

UNITED STATES, October 26. OVER the weekend Division I women posted 10 "B" standard times, hoping to earn a trip to the NCAA Championships in March.

The Arizona State women were toppled in Hawaii but sophomore Caitlin Andrew earned a "B" cut in the 200 back at 2:01.05. Hawaiian women, not to be outdone, answered with four more. Nicole Mackey earned "B" status in the 400 IM, 4:18.99, and the 200 back, 1:59.03. Teammate Melanie Schlanger also performed well in the 50 free, 23.22, and the 100 free, 50.25.

Over on the other side of the states, at an ACC quad meet, swimmers from Florida State and Virginia Tech touched in for a few second-string standards, too. Lauren Brick (FSU) in the 100 breast, 1:02.72, and Sara Smith (VT) in the 200 IM 2:04.08. Three girls made the standard in the 50 free. Christie Raleigh (FSU) took the event in 23.33, Mason Walsh (VT) was second, 23.52, and Carrie Ellis snuck under the cut for third and a 23.53.
