Colleen Lanne Signs with Speedo

LOS ANGELES, May 24. COLLEEN Lanne, a two-time NCAA champion, 22-time All American and two-time Big 12 Swimmer of the Year from the University of Texas, has signed an individual endorsement deal with Speedo, a division of The Warnaco Group.

Lanne, who led the University of Texas Longhorns to a third-place finish at the Women's NCAA Championships in March, joins more than 40 other top athletes, including Josh Davis, Lenny Krayzelburg, Brooke Bennett and Megan Quann as a member of Team Speedo.

"Speedo has a history of supporting its athletes like no other brand," said Lanne. "I am very excited to be associated with their great team of athletes and top-of-the line products."

The Tucson, Arizona native was one of the most dominating swimmers in the country during the 2000-2001 season, capturing NCAA titles in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle and recording the nation's fastest time in the 200. In the process she established herself as the top US sprinter, following in the footsteps of Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres and Amy Van Dyken. Two weeks later, she won her first-ever title at the USA Swimming National Championships in Austin. Her 55.20 for the 100m freestyle ranks her third in the world.

Lanne will swim five events at the World Championships in Japan in July: the 100 and 200 meter freestyle, plus three relays.
