Coach Shoulberg Lectures in Israel, Nation Welcomes Home Its World Championship Team

JERUSALEM, April 12. DESPITE continuing terror attacks, renowned American swim coach Richard Shoulberg arrived in Israel last Monday for a week-long visit including a three-day coaches clinic at the Wingate Institute.

Shoulberg, coach of Germantown Academy in Pennsylvania, was met at the airport by representatives of the Israeli Swimming Federation and Wingate Institute. The Clinic began yesterday and will run through Saturday, April 13.

During the first three days of his visit, Coach Shoulberg toured Israel and visited Jerusalem, fulfilling his long-time ambition of visiting the Holy City.

Coach Shoulberg will lecture in front of about 150 coaches from all over the country who have been waiting for a visit of an elite American coach for a long time.

World Championship Team Welcomed Home
Also this week, Israel's four-swimmer delegation were met with a VIP reception in Tel Aviv on their returned from Moscow. The team included 17 year-old Vered Borochovski, whose bronze medal in the 50 meter butterfly (26.38 seconds) represented the first medal ever won by an Israeli woman swimmer in a World Championship. Borochovski also finaled in the 100m fly, placing sixth and recording a national record time of 58.63 seconds.

1994- First finalist at Worlds, Yoav Bruck, Rome

!996- First relay to final at Olympic Games, Men's 4x100m medley relay, Atlanta

1997- First medal at European Championships, Eitan Urbach, silver, Sevilla, Spain.

2000 – First medal at Short Course World Championships, Mickey Halika, silver, Athens

2002- First medal by a woman at Short Course World Championships, Vered Borochovski, bronze, Moscow
