Class of 2012 Swimming World Six Star Courtney Bartholomew Makes Verbal Commitment

PHOENIX, Arizona, July 12. ANOTHER Swimming World six-star prospect is off the boards as Courtney Bartholomew has made her collegiate choice as a top recruit from the Class of 2012.

Bartholomew, who maintains her profile in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings, already has the times to qualify in a pair of A finals at the NCAA Division I Women's Championships. Bartholomew is on her way to the University of Virginia.

"I am so excited about my early commitment to the University of Virginia!" Bartholomew told Swimming World. "I have looked at some amazing schools and programs with great coaches along the way! However, the University of Virginia has everything and more I was looking for in a school, from top-notch swimming to the high academic standards. I am looking forward to being able to swim for Mark Bernardino and Chip Kline, along with the awesome teammates I will be joining!"

Bartholomew swims for Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics, and preps at Holland High. Her top times in the backstroke events would have qualified her for the A final at the 2011 NCAAs. Her best times are a 52.22 in the 100-yard back and a 1:53.16 in the 200-yard back.

She also owns long course senior national cuts in the 100-meter back (1:02.67) and 200-meter back (2:13.91).
