Class of 2011 Swimming World Five-Star Christian Higgins Makes College Choice

PHOENIX, Arizona, September 18. SWIMMING World five-star recruit Christian Higgins made his college choice recently, and he's heading across the country from Connecticut to the West Coast.

Higgins, who maintains his profile in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings, is a breaststroke specialist who will be headed to the University of California after his senior year of high school.

"I have committed to California," Higgins told Swimming World. "I chose the school because I loved the team, the school, and the coaching staff. It wasn't a hard decision because it's such a great school academically with a really diverse student body. Coach Dave Durden and Coach Greg Meehan are two of the best coaches out there as well as guys that I can see myself excelling with over the next several years."

Higgins swims for the Wilton YMCA and preps at New Canaan High School. He owns a trio of senior national cuts: 100m breast 1:02.29; 200m breast 2:14.14; 200m IM 2:07.67. His top times in short course yard competition: 100y breast 0:55.16; 200y breast 1:57.61
