CIF North Coast Section High School Championships

SAN RAMON, California, May 24. THE CIF North Coast Section High School Championships took place May 22 in San Ramon.

Girls Results
Amador Valley's Catherine Breed made headlines when she won the 200 free in 1:44.61. Notably, Carondelet's Chelsea Chenault grabbed second in 1:45.12 after leading most of the race. That second-place time broke the national independent school record, breaking Kate Ziegler's old record of 1:45.49 set back in 2006. Breed doubled with a win in the 500 free, clocking a meet record time of 4:41.18.

Carondelet also set a national high school record, this one an overall as well as independent record, in the 200 medley relay. Madison White, Allison Gargalikis, Christina Ray, and Chenault clocked 1:40.73 to break the mark of 1:40.80 they set last year. White also doubled, winning both the 100 free (50.49) and 100 back (53.74), while Gargalikis took the 100 breast (1:01.21). Finally, Carondelet's team of Natalie Amberg, Nicole Palmer, White, and Chenault earned first in the 400 free relay (3:26.47).

Foothill's Celina Le earned individual wins in both the 200 IM (1:59.37) and 100 fly (53.69), and Campolindo's Dana Holt dashed to the 50 free win (23.67). Teammates Meghan Bicamong, Courtney Whyte, and Sam Flower joined Holt on the winning 200 free relay team (1:36.31). Amador Valley's Lauren Hall won one meter diving with 418.90 points.

San Ramon Valley edged Carondelet for the team title, 299.5 points to 284. Campolindo ended up third with 182 points.

Boys Results
Acalanes' Piankhi Gibson and Granada's Nick Silverthorn each earned two individual wins. Gibson won the 50 free (20.61) and 100 fly (48.63), while Silverthorn took the 200 (1:37.83) and 500 free (4:26.15). Meanwhile, De La Salle's David Morgan won the 100 free (45.20), and teammate Kristian Ispen won one meter diving with 708.60 points.

Miramonte's Charlie Wiser won the 100 breast (55.27) and swam alongside teammates Robbie Fluegge, Nick Deaver, and Aleck Ryner to win the 200 medley relay (1:34.16). Campolindo's Stephen Stumph won the 200 IM (1:49.46), while teammate Sven Campbell took the 100 back (49.73). Campolindo's Jeffrey Strausser, Sven Campbell, Nick Zolintakis, and Robert Ashby earned the 200 free relay win (1:23.35) and teammates Strausser, Ashby, Tor Jensen, and Sven Campbell the 400 free relay (3:03.97).

Campolindo won the meet with 243.5 points, while Granada scored 205 points to edge Monta Vista (Danville), as the later scored 197 points.
