Chinese National City Games: Ye Shiwen Wins Fourth Gold, Li Xiang Takes Run at Chinese Record

NANCHANG, China, October 21. YE Shiwen remained dominant at the Chinese National City Games with her fourth gold medal of the meet. She's now won two individual and two relays. Meanwhile, Li Xiang made a run at the Chinese record in the men's 200 breast.

Ye Shiwen won her fourth gold medal of the meet as her squad that also included Fu Yuanhui and Shao Yiwen captured the women's 800 free relay title in 8:01.04. Dingmeng's foursome took second in 8:04.14, while Shanghai Minhang placed third in 8:06.19.

Li Xiang clipped Huang Chao in the men's 200 breaststroke finale, 2:12.34 to 2:12.46, to just miss his national record of 2:12.25 set at the Asian Games last year. Sun Chenwei placed third in 2:16.33.

Li Tingting followed with a victorious time of 2:09.79 in the women's 200 fly. Li Shuang placed second in the distance fly event with a 2:11.00, while Sun Lulu earned third-place overall in 2:12.26. He Jianbin surfaced with the triumph in the men's 100 free with a 49.69, while Zeng Xianliang took second in 49.94.

Plenty of semifinals also took place this evening. Zheng Yanan led the women's 100 free with a 55.61, while Wang Bing took second in 55.76. Yubei Yao earned third in 55.86. Ye Shiwen, notably, placed sixth in 56.12. Xu Jiayu topped the men's 200 back with a 2:01.34, while Zhang Fenglin touched second in 2:02.71. Lin Yongqing picked up third in 2:02.71. Fan Rong posted a 2:29.32 for the top seed in the women's 200 breast, while Wang Shun continued his strong meet with a 2:02.19 to lead qualifying in the men's 200 IM. Mao Feilian (2:04.23) and Li Xiang (2:04.88) completed the top three seeds in the event.
