China Sweeps Top Two in Women’s Tower Event at Worlds

MELBOURNE, Australia, March 21. FOLLOWING in the footsteps of the men's one-meter competition, China swept the gold and silver podium spots in the women's tower competition at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.

Wang Xin tallied 432.85 points for gold by scoring 80+ in each dive, including her biggest dive with a fifth-round 90.10-point tally from a backward 2.5 somersault with 1.5 twists.

Wang's consistency won out over her compatriot Chen Ruolin. While Chen had the biggest dive of the day, an astonishing 99.00 points from a backward 3.5 somersault from a tuck position in the fourth round, Chen also tanked her third-round dive (an armstand backward 2 somersault with 1.5 twists) for 49.60 points to settle for silver with 410.30 points.
