Central Connecticut State, Bryant vs. New Hampshire

DURHAM, New Hampshire, November 5. JUNIOR Shelli Reed (Hollister, Calif.) paved the way with three first-place finishes, as the University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team took down Central Connecticut State (213-84) and Bryant University (221-69) on Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at Swasey Pool.

New Hampshire remained undefeated on the season with the pair of victories, winning 14 of 16 events on the day. Reed claimed the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (52.14), 50-yard free (24.02) and 200-yard free (1:51.65), finishing the day at the top of the America East performance list in all three events.

Ellen Pelletier (West Hartford, Conn.) also added a pair of first-place finishes, including a record-breaking performance in the one-meter dive with a school record score of 275.25. She also took the top spot in the three-meter dive, notching a score of 230.30.

The Wildcats opened the day in dominating fashion, taking first and second place in the 200-yard medley relay. Oneida Cooper (Johannesburg, South Africa), Katie Mann (Prince George, B.C.), Megan Suffel (Cornwall, Ontario) and Reed teamed up to take the top spot in the event with a time of one minute and 48.79 seconds. Nicole Anderson (Dover, N.H.), Jessica Little (Barrie, Ontario), Adria Morales (Canyon Country, Calif.) and Emily Magnavita (South Glastonbury, Conn.) finished in 1:51.06, taking second place.

Lauren McCandless (Macungie, Pa.) kept up the pace in the day's second event, claiming first place in the 1000-yard free, touching down at 10:24.72. She also added a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.31) and a second-place finish in the 500-yard free (5:07.66) on the day.

The 'Cats took the top three spots in the 200-yard IM, as Mann claimed the top spot with a time of 2:07.26. Bull and Little took second and third place with times of 2:07.36 and 2:11.18, respectively.

New Hampshire was equally impressive in the 100-yard butterfly, as Cooper (58.74), Suffel (59.44) and Morales (1:00.43) all finished in the top three spots.

Jenna Bull (Woodstock, New Brunswick) led the way for the home team in the 200-yard backstroke, timing in at 2:05.70. Mann and Morales weren't far behind their Wildcat teammate, taking second and third with times of 2:06.93 and 2:08.81, respectively.

Mann was at it again when she took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.45. Casey Albert (Enfield, N.H.) added a third-place finish in the event, clocking in at 1:08.27.

Albert also made a solid effort in the 200-yard breast, notching second place, touching down at 2:25.67. Little led the way for the 'Cats in the event, taking the top spot with a time of 2:19.97.

UNH rounded out the day in spectacular fashion, claiming first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.50. Cooper, Magnavita, Suffel and Bull all contributed to the impressive effort in the event.

The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 12 (1 p.m.) when they take on the University of Rhode Island at the Tootell Aquatic Center.
