Carmel Girls Take Down National High School Relay Records

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, February 14. DURING finals at the Indiana State High School Championships, Carmel High's girls shot down a pair of national high school relay records at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.

The foursome of Jessie Hammes, Lauren Stauder, Devon Mason and Megan Detro nearly broke the overall national high school standard in the 200-yard medley relay. The team posted a time of 1:41.68 to wipe out the public high school record set by Carmel during prelims yesterday with a 1:42.09. The time came up just short of the overall record of 1:41.63 set by The Baylor School in Tennessee last night.

Meanwhile, Detro, Jammes, Logan Mason and Trish Regan clocked a 200-yard free relay time of 1:32.75 to eclipse the overall national record of 1:32.77 set by Pioneer High of Michigan in 2002.
