Canadian Divers Sweep Mixed Pairs Events at FINA Diving Grand Prix

GATINEAU – Canada’s mixed pairs Francois Imbeau-Dulac / Jennifer Abel and Meaghan Benfeito / Vincent Riendeau took gold respectively in 3m and 10m mixed events this weekend in Gatineau (CAN) where the third leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix took place from April 9-12.

Canada also won the gold medal in the 3m and 10m sychro events totaling 404.64 and 426.66 points. The country bested Chinese pair Bowen Huang / Anqi Wang in the 10m platform and Australia in the 3m springboard.

With a total of 527.35 points, Jahir Campo (MEX) triumphed in the 3m springboard for the third consecutive time since the beginning of the 2015 edition of the Grand Prix, besting French Matthieu Rosset (second, 498.70 points) and Canadian Philippe Gagne (third, 480.60 points). Another Mexican, Diego Balleza, took gold for the 10m event with 477.60 points.

Among the women, China distinguished by winning all the gold medals in competition. Chunting Wu (CHN) won the 3m springboard with 356.55 points as Siyu JI (CNH) won the 10m platform with 419.45 points. Chinese women’s divers excelled in the sychro events too and earned gold with Chunting Wu / Lin Qu and Yaying Ding/ Siyu Ji.

The FINA Grand Prix 2015 will next stop in San Juan (Mex) from April 16-19.
