Camryn Forbes, Mark Andrew Lower Own Records at 2015 YMCA Long Course Nationals

Night two of the 2015 YMCA Long Course Nationals kicked off with Butler’s Camryn Forbes posting a new national record in the women’s 100-meter back. Forbes turned in a 1:02.54 to lower her own national record of 1:02.68 from 2014. Ali Galyer of Middle Tyger took second with a final time of 1:03.11, while Countryside’s Marianne Kahmann rounded out the top three with a 1:03.95.

Great Miami Valley’s Mark Andrew lowered his own national mark in the men’s 400-meter IM posting a time of 4:26.57 for the win. Andrew’s former record from 2014 was a 4:27.25. Wilton teammates Oscar Ike (4:27.90) and Robby Giller (4:29.85) finished second and third respectively.

Daniel Hein of Kishwaukee claimed first in the men’s 100-meter back with a finishing time of 56.79. Edwardsville’s Sean Workman finished second overall with a 57.41, while UpperMainLine’s Brian McKenrick was a close third with a 57.46.

Alyssa Arwood of W. North Carolina dashed to first in the women’s 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 32.96. Sarah Helm of Springfield claimed second with a 33.39, while Shelly Prayson of South Family took third overall with a 33.58.

Fifteen-year-old Max McHugh topped the competition in the men’s 50-meter breaststroke finishing with a time of 29.13, touching .80 seconds ahead of the competition. Jacob Limaldi of Red Bank took second with a time of 29.93, while Chad Cummings of Butler was third with a 29.97.

Jessica Horomanski of Middle Tyger grabbed first in the women’s 400-meter IM with a 4:58.82, dropping 3.48 seconds from her prelims time of 5:02.30. Annika Wagner of Leaning Tower finished second with a time of 5:00.95. Northwest’s Megan Tacik was third with a time of 5:01.07.

Abbey Erwin of Downtown Boise won the women’s 200-meter free with a final time of 2:03.95. Northwest’s Rachel Brown took second overall with a time of 2:04.01, while Jenny Nusbaum of Triangle Area was third with a 2:04.82.

Hank Siefert of Coffman and Zach Apple of Great Miami Valley kept it close in the men’s 200-meter free with Apple leading for the first 100-meters of the race. Siefert was able to kick it in gear in the final 100 meters to catch Apple and pass him for the win. Siefert finished first  with a time of 1:52.64, while Apple took second with a 1:52.75. Cheshire’s Karl Bishop rounded out the top three with a time of 1:53.97.
