California, Northwestern, Stanford Earn Five-Star Recruiting Bids

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 24. THE college recruiting season continued to pick up this past weekend with several more Class of 2012 prospects making their commitments public via the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings system.

Shelly Patton, a Swimming World five-star, will be attending Northwestern next year. Patton, who preps at Heritage High School, should have an immediate impact with the Wildcats, and has several senior national cuts (100m back 1:04.47; 200m IM 2:18.19; 400m IM 4:56.72) to bring to the Big Ten.

Patton is the second five-star recruit to head to Northwestern this year. Van Donkersgoed is a breaststroke specialist also heading to Evanston. Two-star Julia Pratt will also be attending Northwestern.

Jameson Lyon, a Swimming World five-star, will make his way to the University of California. Lyon, who trains at North Coast Aquatics and preps at Le Costa Canyon, is a distance specialist with a pair of senior national cuts: 400m free 3:59.49; 1500m free 15:40.53.

California has some dangerous recruits coming in next fall for both the men's and women's freshman classes. Reigning Swimming World High School Female Co-Swimmer of the Year Rachel Bootsma, a rare six star, six-star Elizabeth Pelton and five-star Sam Shimomura are also Berkeley-bound.

Sean Duggan, a Swimming World five-star recruit, is on his way to Stanford. Duggan, who trains at Highlander Aquatics and preps at Lake Highland Prep, is an all-around threat with plenty of senior national cuts: 200m free 1:52.54; 400m free 3:59.96; 1500m free 15:52.50; 200m IM 2:06.42; 400m IM 4:29.63.

Claire Brandt, a Swimming World five-star prospect, is headed to Texas A&M next fall. Brandt, who trains with the Dallas Mustangs and preps at Greenhill High School, has a pair of senior national cuts: 50m free 0:26.29; 200m back 2:17.66.

Three-star Chris Meyers will be attending Brown next fall. Meyers, who trains with Schroeder YMCA and preps at the University School of Milwaukee, is a breaststroke with a top time in the 100-meter breast (1:07.75).

Two-star Camilla Czulada will be swimming for James Madison. Czulada preps at Wilson High School in Pennsylvania and has several junior national cuts: 50y free 0:24.14; 100y free 0:52.24; 200y free 1:51.12; 500y free 4:55.17.
