CORONADO, California, June 7. CARLSBAD'S men's 200 medley relay set the lone class record in the opening event at the CIF San Diego Section Division I Championships.

Andres Carreras, Tyler Hoffman, Spencer DiDio and Russell Hampton checked in with a time of 1:36.21, erasing the former mark of 1:37.63 set by Carlsbad in 2005. The Carlsbad men won the other two relays as well with the 200 freestyle relay (Carreras, Chris Barton, Lewis Anderson and Joe Stitts) taking first in 1:28.02 and the 400 freestyle relay (Hampton, Anderson, DiDio and Stitts) nabbing the gold in 3:09.13.

Stott Bushnell from Fallbrook outsprinted the field in the two shorter-distance freestyle events, taking the 50 freestyle in 21.14 and the 100 freestyle in 45.87.

DiDio placed first on two occasions as well, covering the 200 IM in 1:52.77 and the 100 butterfly in 50.46.

Corey Cowger of Rancho Bernardo beat out the diving field with a score of 218.90. Kevin Dreesen from Granite Hills picked up second with a 209.85 score while Josh Urnezis representing Rancho Bernardo took third (201.15).

Women's Results
Monica Dornick from Carlsbad overpowered her opponents in the longer-distance freestyle events, placing first in both. Dornick stopped the clock at 1:49.88 in the 200 freestyle and at 4:57.02 in the 500 freestyle.

Poway's Bianca Casciari easily disposed of her competition as well, closing out her senior campaign with wins in the 200 IM (2:04.50) and the 100 butterfly (56.90). Casciari, a Swimming World four-star recruit, will stay in state next season to compete for the Bruins at the University of California-Los Angeles.

Jacqui Kimmel from Eastlake also left the meet with two individual championships, posting the top time in the 50 freestyle (23.90) and in the 100 backstroke (57.59) as well.

Eastlake won two-thirds of the relay events. The 200 freestyle relay contingent of Heather Voigt, Andrea Voigt, Taylor Stoddard and Kimmel fell .13 off of the section record with a 1:39.09 performance while the 400 freestyle relay (Stoddard, Justine Maher, Andrea Voigt and Kimmel) put up the event's top standard of 3:31.37.

Rancho Bernardo's Haley Francois took the women's diving title with ease, scoring a 221.85. Nicholle Kohls from Fallbrook secured the second-place spot with a 196.10 score while Kaitlin Benner of La Costa Canyon rounded out the top three finishers with a 190.25 score.
