California Baptist v. Alaska-Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska, January 19. CALIFORNIA Baptist took the opening day with Alaska-Fairbanks scoring a 118-72 win, Saturday. The Lancers were led by Stephanie Jung and Stephanie Olson who claimed a pair of individual events with Jung winning the 50 free (25.45) and the 100 free (55.05) in the 100 free while Olson captured the 1650 free (18:10.50) and the 500 free (5:18.59).

Katelyn Butler, Nicole Shipman and Elena Zanone all won events as well with Butler swimming a 1:58.74 in the 200 free, Shipman a 2:11.49 in the 200 back and Zanone a 2:31.51 in the 200 breast. The 400 free relay team also captured a first-place finish as Krista Chacon, Angie Rodriguez, Katie Johnson and Butler combined for a 3:48.96.

Chacon also placed second in two events with an 18:27.56 in the 1650 free and a 2:40.39 in the 200 fly. Zanone, Butler and Elaina Hunter all placed second with Zanone swimming a 4:46.72 in the 400 IM, Butler a 55.34 in the 100 free and Hunter a 2:36.48 in the 200 breast. The 400 medley relay team also placed second with Shipman, Jung, Rodriguez and Hunter combined for a 4:10.26.

Leah Hanson finished third in the 400 IM (4:51.23) along with Meredith Krom who finished third in the 200 fly (2:23.86).
