Cal Poly Wraps Up Day One of Its Invite

SAN LUIS OBISPO, California, December 1. THE men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first half of competition today at the Cal Poly invite.

The Cal Poly women's team split the duel meet with a two and two record after today's events, participating against Cal State Northridge, Nevada, Loyola Marymount University and University of San Diego.

The Mustangs scored wins against Cal State Northridge (149-139) and University of San Diego (151.5-147.5). Loyola Marymount University edged the Mustangs with a score of 180-108, while Nevada handed Cal Poly a 222-77 loss.

Cal Poly junior Stacey Sorensen led the Mustangs with a first place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.34, a second place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.54 and third place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.32.

Sophomore Amy Speer added to the Mustangs point totals with a third place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:12.69) and Alyssa Rogers scored a season best in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.00.

The men's team was defeated by their only opponent, Cal State Northridge, 188-106.

Freshman Thomas Kruip led the Mustangs with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.47.

Freshman Corwin Didio placed second in the 500 freestyle (4:44.78) as well as freshman Adam Morales in the 100 backstroke (56.28), Johnathan Richards in the 100 breaststroke (59.00), Cody Laxo in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.43), Kellen Ranahan in the 100 butterfly (52.45) and Don Sales in the 200 butterfly (2:00.43).
