Cal Baptist Splits with Cal Poly

RIVERSIDE, California, December 16. ALTHOUGH the Cal Baptist men picked up a convincing win, the women were outscored by Cal Poly in a dual meet at the Lancer Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon.

The NAIA's two-time defending champion women were outscored 155-137 in their competition, taking their first defeat of the season, while the defending national champion men nearly doubled Cal Poly's scores, at 194-102.

Nicole Shipman (100 breast, 200 back) and Krista Chacon (500, 1,000 free) each picked up a pair of wins for the women, but Cal Poly's Christina Shilling (200 free, 200 IM), Alyssa Rogers (100, 200 breast) and Stacey Sorenson (50, 100 free) each scored 2 wins in the team victory.

A total of eight men scored individual victories, as diver Jeff Couto notched wins in the 1- and 3-meter boards and Michael Garispe (100 back, 100 fly) and Jeff Heinz (200, 500 free) also tallied 2 wins.
