Caitlin Leverenz Wins 400 IM Finals At USA Nationals

Cailtin Leverenz won the women’s 400-meter IM in convincing fashion at USA Nationals tonight. Leverenz dropped 2.95 seconds from her prelims swim to take gold in 4:38.81. She took an early lead on the butterfly leg and never relented, finishing the race with a 2.72-second cushion.

Leverenz Splits:

1:02.37 – 1:13.38 – 1:18.62 – 1:04.44

Sarah Henry (4:41.53) edged Madisyn Cox (4:41.75) to earn silver. Emily Cameron touched just outside the top three with a 4:42.24 final time.

Mia Nonnenberg dropped 2.37 seconds from prelims to nab fifth in 4:43.88. Bethany Galat took sixth with a 4:44.51. Katherine Mills took the race out with Leverenz and split a 1:02.79 on the fly leg, but fell to seventh with a 4:45.72. Catalina Corro Lorente wound up eighth with a 4:47.08.
