Brooke Zeiger Posts Impressive Triple At Buffalo Sectionals

BUFFALO, New York, March 28. BROOKE Zeiger of Bluefish Swim Team won three events- the 200 free, 100 breast, and 400 IM- on the second night of finals at the Speedo Buffalo Sectionals.

The future Minnesota Golden Gopher kicked off the night with a 2:03.79 to win the 200m free. Anastasia Bogdanovski, who won Female Swimmer of the Meet at NCAA D3 Championships last week for Johns Hopkins, took second with a personal best 2:04.78. Heidi Miller of Greater Pittsburgh Aquatic Club, who has committed to Princeton, clocked in at 2:05.43 for third.

Zeiger won the 100m breast with a time of 1:13.51. Peyton Kondis of Greater Pittsburgh Aquatic Club posted a personal best 1:14.95 for second. Haley Gula of Bluefish Swim Team claimed third with a 1:15.21.

Zeiger’s third win of the night came in the 400m IM, which she clinched with a time of 4:50.91. Haley Rowley of the University of Denver Hilltoppers placed second with a time of 4:52.23. Sydney Modeas of STAR Swimming, a Northwestern recruit, took third with a personal best 4:54.60.

Daniel Golczewski of Arena Club Aquatics won the men’s 200m free with a personal best 1:53.63. PJ Ransford of PACK Swim Team, a Michigan recruit, took second with a personal best 1:54.39. John Nunez of Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics claimed third with a 1:55.65.

Luke Otto of STAR Swimming won the men’s 100m breast with a personal best 1:05.40. Garrett Clarke of the Liverpool Jets Swim Club, who will swim for the University of Buffalo, touched second with a personal best 1:05.43. Damjan Petrovski of Wingate University hit the wall in 1:05.88 for third.

Sofia Petrenko of Wingate University won the women’s 100m fly with a time of 1:02.49. Caroline Heilbrun of The Fish took second with a personal best time of 1:02.68. Her teammate Allison Goldblatt touched third with a personal best time of 1:03.83.

Ryan Dudzinski of Upper St. Clair Swim Club won the men’s 100m fly in 56.18. Bluefish Swim Club’s Samuel Spurrell took second with a personal best 56.64. Dudzinski’s teammate Fynn Minuth touched in 56.64 for third.

Wingate University’s Marko Blazevski won the men’s 400m IM with a 4:23.51. Bluefish Swim Club’s Connor Green, who will swim at Cal Berkeley in the fall, clocked in at 4:24.03 for second. Jarrett Jones of Cape Cod Swim Club shaved 8 seconds off his personal best and finished third with a 4:30.60.

The Bluefish Swim Club women (Elizabeth Zeiger, Rebecca Zeiger, Lilly Vivado, Brooke Zeiger) won the 800m free relay with a time of 8:38.54. The Fish (Allison Goldblatt, Madelyn Donohoe, Michelle Owens, Caroline Heilbrun) touched in 8:42.38 for second. The University of Denver Hilltoppers (Kaylee Gassen, Lauren Moden, Madison Helm, Haley Rowley) clocked in at 8:43.05 for third.

Bluefish Swim Club (Owen Wright, Grant Casey, Maxwell Miranda, Connor Green) won on the men’s side as well, posting a 7:59.33. Eastern Express Swim Team (Connor Doyle, Jacob Lubinski, Jack McIntyre, Allen Shmurak) took second with an 8:04.41. Asphalt Green United Aquatics (John Nunez, Michael Zuppone, Baraa Abdelrahman, Leo Rivoal) finished third with a time of 8:08.86.

After two nights, Bluefish Swim Club lead on combined points with 227, followed by The Fish (122) and PACK Swim Team of Pittsford (88).
