Brendan Meyer of Covington Catholic High School and the Northern Kentucky Clippers has announced his verbal commitment to swim at the University of Arizona. Meyer brings a strong résumé to Tucson, one that includes two Olympic Trial times in the 200-meter fly and 400-meter free.

Meyer is the reigning Kentucky State Champion in the 500 free and also placed third in the meet in the 100 back. As his top times indicate, he’s a versatile swimmer who can fill numerous spots for Rick DeMont‘s Wildcat squad. His strength resides mostly in his endurance, which will come in handy for the distance free races and long fly and back swims.

Northern Kentucky Clippers Head Coach Norm Wright is confident in Meyer’s ability and mindset when he heads to Arizona. “Brendan is one of the most knowledgable swimmers I know,” Wright said. “He loves the process and is as tough as anyone in the country.”

Arizona finished 13th and last year’s NCAA Championship.
