Bloomsburg Relays

BLOOMSBURG, Pennsylvania. October 9. THE Bloomsburg University men's and women's swim teams opened the 2009-10 season by hosting the Bloomsburg Relays. The women's team took top honors with 209.5 to easily out-distance Mt. Saint Mary's University with 134 points, while the men's team finished first with 212 points to 163 for Misericordia University.

The women's team was first in nine of the 10 events, while the men's team was first in nine of the 10 events. Head coach Stu Marvin was very pleased with the early season results.

"We had some awesome swims from both sides, men and women," said Marvin, now in his second season. "To see these performances this early in the season is inspiring to everyone connected with the team. We won every event except one but it was not so much the victories, as it was the level of the performances that has the entire team buzzing."

Standout performances for the Huskies on the women's side came from Allie Reed, Brittany McNeil, Madeline Barlow and Sarah Grawe. On the men's side: Jeremy Frey, Derek Straub, Juan Castaneda, and John King all had a big meet.
