MISSION VIEJO – For the second year in a row, Southern California Swimming has named Coach Bill Rose, from the Mission Viejo Nadadores, as its Coach of the Year.

The Kevin Perry Coach of the Year award is awarded in honor of Coach Kevin Perry and is voted on by coaches across Southern California Swimming. Nominations are submitted by coaches’ representatives or senior representatives from across the LSC. Additionally, all coaches who have placed swimmers on the US National or US Junior National teams are automatically nominated.

The Kevin Perry Coach of the Year Award presented each year to the coach who produces the best swimmers and contributes the most in terms of service and leadership to SCS and USA Swimming. Coach Rose placed more swimmers on the US National or Junior National teams than any other coach in SCS.

Coach Rose coached Katie McLaughlin to a place on the US National Team and a Golden Goggles nomination for Breakout Performer of the Year and was dually nominated with Dave Durden for placing Janardan Burns on the US National Team as well. In addition, Coach Rose coached Grant Shoults and Nick Norman to the US Junior National Team.

Coach Rose serves as a member of USA Swimming’s International Relations and Olympic International Operations committees as well as serving as chairperson for the USA Swimming Open Water Steering and Open Water Swimming committees.

Coach Rose’s service to USA Swimming put him ahead of the field of 10 nominees in the service category as well.
