Bentley vs. Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, New Hampshire, January 6. SOPHOMORE Caroline Lewis (Westfield, Mass./Westfield HS) captured both backstroke events and ten teammates also recorded individual victories as the Bentley University women's swim team returned from a 33-day holiday and exam break to best host Plymouth State University, 175-104, Friday afternoon.
Bentley, which won 13 of 16 events, improved to 5-0 this season while extending its dual winning streak to 16 matches.

Lewis posted winning efforts of 30.17 seconds in the 50 yard backstroke and 1:05.23 in the 100.

Bentley swept the five freestyle events with junior Monika Drogosz (Unionville, Conn./ Farmington HS) taking the 50 in 26.43 seconds, All-America junior Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/ Brewer HS) first to the wall in the 100 (58.09), freshman Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) winning the 200 (2:01.25), senior Susie Boretti (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) prevailing in the 500 (5:40.03) and sophomore Amelia Suda (Monroe, Conn./Masuk HS) outdistancing the field in the 1000 (11:44.71).

Sophomores Amy Shin (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) and Kellen Power (San Jose, Calif./ Valley Christian HS) were the winners in the butterfly events, with Shin posting a 28.99 in the 50 and Power swimming the 100 in 1:03.55. Senior Molly Murphy (Horseheads, N.Y./Watkins Glen HS) was first to touch in the 100 individual medley, doing so in 1:07.55.

Bentley also swept the diving events with junior Abby Mathews (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) registering a score of 223.55 on the one meter and freshman Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS) first on the three-meter (214.35).

Bentley also won the 200 medley relay with Murphy, Shin, Hodsdon and freshman Kaitlyn Simoneau (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrendale South HS) combining for a time of 1:58.72.

The Falcons' next meet is Jan. 15 at home against Saint Rose.
