Baylor’s Lucas Kaliszak, Chandler Hinson Both Make College Decisions

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee, October 25. A pair of the top men’s recruits out of the State of Tennessee have made their collegiate decisions as Lucas Kaliszak and Chandler Hinson out of Dan Flack’s Baylor School decided their destinations today.

Kaliszak, who is ranked third in the state by CollegeSwimming.com, has chosen the University of Alabama.

Kaliszak is a U.S. Open qualifier in the 100-yard backstroke with a 48.90 relay leadoff from the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals just less than a year ago. Not only does Kaliszak have a strong time in the 100-yard back, he’s going to make an immediate impact on Alabama’s sprint medley relay with a 22.69 50-yard back and 26.82 50-meter backstroke to his credit. Both times occurred live on SwimmingWorld.TV at the NCSA Junior Nationals the past two years.

Kaliszak also brings a bit of butterfly potential to the Crimson Tide. He owns a 56.32 in the 100-meter fly and a 50.24 in the 100-yard fly.

Hinson, the fifth-ranked recruit in the state by CollegeSwimming.com, will be headed to Georgetown University.

Hinson is the reigning 100-yard freestyle state champion with a 46.01 from the meet this past February. He also will provide Georgetown with some versatility. He owns a 51.96 100-yard back, a 1:51.26 200-yard back as well as a 1:54.47 200-yard IM. And, in long course events, he has a 59.76 in the 100meter back.

The ownership Flack has taken in terms of Tennessee high school swimming is remarkable. No. 1 Robert McHugh (Tennessee), No. 2 Mathias Porter (Undecided), No. 3 Lucas Kaliszak (Alabama) and No. 5 Chandler Hinson (Georgetown) all hail from The Baylor School. John Myhre out of Tennessee Aquatics, who is ranked fourth, is the only non-Baylor top five swimmer on the men’s side of the ledge in the state.
