The Stanford Cardinal men’s swim team didn’t have to go very far for their next commitment for next fall’s freshman class, as PASA backstroker Benjamin Ho pledged to attend the university next year.

Ho’s top event is the 200 back, where he holds a lifetime best of 1:44.18 in yards. His next best event for the Cardinal might be the 200 free, where he can help on the 800 free relay in the future thanks to a 1:37.29 best time.

Ho was the runner-up in the 100 back representing St. Francis Mountain View High School at the inaugural California high school championships last May with a 48.75, just three tenths slower than his lifetime best.

Ho is headed to Olympic Trials next summer in the 200 back with his lifetime best of 2:03.15. He’s just .02 away from qualifying in the 100 back and about a second off in the 200 free.

Ho will join a backstroke squad led by current sophomore Patrick Conaton, who qualified for the NCAA championships.
