Auburn’s Maggie Bowen Named SEC Athlete of the Week

Auburn, AL – The Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday that Auburn freshman Maggie Bowen was named SEC Swimmer of the Week.

Bowen, a Jackson, Miss. native, won the 400-meter IM and the 200-meter fly as well as back-to-back wins in the 1500-meter freestyle and the 200-meter IM. In addition, she finished second in the 200-meter breast. Her 400 IM time of 4:44.38 is a NCAA “A” standard qualifying time, while her other four events are “B” standard times.

Bowen is the first Auburn swimmer to earn this honor this season and is the third AU athlete to earn conference honors this week.

Auburn is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Tigers return to action this Sat., Jan. 22 when they host Florida. The meet is scheduled for 2 p.m.
