Auburn’s Brackin Named Assistant Women’s Coach of US National Junior Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kim Brackin, Auburn's associate head women's swimming coach was named an assistant women's coach for the 2002 US National Junior Team as announced today by USA Swimming.

The team will take part in the XXXIX International Trophy Seven Hills meet from May 31 – June 7 of this year in Rome. Brackin will also be traveling with three Auburn swimming signees, who will join the Tigers in the Fall.

"Since coming to Auburn, Kim has made a profound impact on the program," Auburn swimming head coach David Marsh said. "Her leadership, specifically with women, has moved to new heights and I am excited that she is taking her talents to the National team. Kim will have a great impact on all the young people that she has the opportunity to coach."

Brackin's appointment to the coaching staff is her first with a US National team; however, she was named as the US Junior National Team camp coach last summer and is the only returning staff member from that camp.

"I am obviously excited and honored to be named as a coach on the Junior National Team," Brackin said. "The team is very talented and I am excited with the staff that they have put together. I will be working again with Jimmy Tierney (Head Coach at Northwestern where Brackin spent two seasons as an assistant) and the entire coaching staff is excellent.

"I am hoping that this is the first of many appointments with National teams and would love to do whatever I can to help USA Swimming."

The Ithaca, N.Y., native is currently in the middle of her fifth season with the Tigers and has helped lead the women's team to unprecedented success at Auburn including the team's highest-ever placing at the NCAA Championships last season with a No. 4 finish.
