Auburn Sectional Concludes Second Day of Competition

AUBURN, Alabama, July 13. THE second night of swimming came to a close at the Auburn Sectional as six different swimmers claimed six individual titles during long course meter competition.

Christine Magnuson opened the evening when she battled Rachel Komisarz to the touch, 2:00.69 to 2:00.70, in the 200 freestyle. In the men's edition, Doug Van Wie had an easier time of it with a 1:50.85 for the win. Jackson Wilcox, 17, came in second with a time of 1:53.66.

In the 100 backstroke events, Mary DeScenza held off Rachel Goh, 1:02.51 to 1:02.83, for win, while Emile Ewing came in a close third in 1:02.89. James Wike captured the men's 100 back with a time of 55.32. His closest competition came in the form of Eugene Godsoe's 57.46.

Kirsten Smith cruised in the women's 400 IM with a time of 4:52.86, while Andrew Mitchell touched out Michael Walker, 4:31.17 to 4:31.70, in the men's medley.
