Auburn Dominates at War Eagle Invite

AUBURN, Ala., October 13. THE Auburn men's swimming team and the women who did not travel to Arkansas for the double dual meet on Saturday spent the weekend competing at the War Eagle Invitational, an age-group club meet, from Friday through Sunday nights at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

Swimming as exhibition swimmers, Kirsty Coventry, BJ Jones, Kelly Jones, Margaret Hoelzer, Bryce Hunt, Becky Short, Wesley Flatt and Demerae Christianson each clocked the fastest time for an Auburn swimmer in more than one event.

Coventry clocked a 4:26.72 in the 400 yard IM before registering a 51.87 in the 100 free. Kelly Jones was the first to the wall in both the 100 breaststroke (1:06.27) and the 200 breaststroke (2:24.98).

BJ Jones' first action of the season was in the 500 free, stopping the clock in a time of 4:39.42 before clocking a 46.54 in the 100 free. Hunt took to the walls in the 200 back (1:50.34) and the 200 IM (1:54.81).

Hoelzer's best events were the 200 fly (2:03.93) and the 200 back (2:01.35) while Short's top times came in the 50 fly (26.66) and the 200 free (1:56.74).

Flatt took the top time in the 50 back (25.14) and the 200 free (1:46.35).

Christianson closed out the double-event winners with a time of 2:11.06 in the 200 IM and a 57.13 in the 100 fly.

The Tigers return to the pool for a double dual meet with Virginia and Penn State on Oct. 25 in Charlottesville, Va.
