Army Clinches Three Patriot League Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Penn, November 25. ARMY took home three of the four Patriot League weekly swimming & diving awards after solid performances against Bucknell last weekend. Efri Ruthenberg (Peoria, Ariz./Catus), Mandy Otto (West Seneca, N.Y./Christian Central Academy) and Chelsea Haviland (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) join Navy's Kevin Teague (Lexington, Ky./Dunbar) on the weekly honor roll for the week ending Nov. 23.

Ruthenberg wins Men's Swimmer of the Week accolades for the first time in his career after helping the Black Knights to a 139-92 victory over defending champion Bucknell. The freshman notched three first-place finishes to lead the Army charge. In the 500 free, Ruthenberg posted a time of 4:41.26, which was five seconds faster than teammate Kevin Burke, who came in second. Ruthenberg also stood atop the podium in the 200 freestyle (1:42.16) and the 100 freestyle (47.27).

Otto garners Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the first time in her career after notching a pair of first-place finishes against the Bison. The freshman out-touched Bucknell's Laura Goeller by 0.5 seconds to open the meet with a win in the 200 individual medley (2:10.91). Otto also took home first-place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:05.64, which was just 0.07 seconds faster than BU's Daniella Faas.

Teague takes home Men's Diver of the Week accolades for the second-straight week after sweeping the diving events for the seventh time this season. The freshman garnered a personal-best mark of 358.96 in the three-meter event en route to a 132-point victory. Teague registered 305.40 points in the one-meter dive, which was 77 points more than the runner-up.

Haviland claims Women's Diver of the Week honors for the fourth-straight week and the 11th time in her career after winning both diving events in Army's 125-118 loss to Bucknell Saturday. In the one-meter dive, the sophomore accumulated 263.10 points en route to a 19-point victory over teammate Sarah Get. Haviland also claimed the gold medal in the three-meter event with 280.50 points.
