Arizona v. Arizona State

TUCSON, Arizona, February 16. IN the last dual meet of the season, the No. 2 Arizona men's swimming team knocked off in-state rival, Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. The score of the meet was 199-85. The win improves the Wildcats record to 9-0 (5-0, Pac-10).

The first event of the day for the men was the 200 yard medley relay. Arizona's team of Albert Subirats, Ivan Barnes, Darian Townsend and Robert Iddiols finished in first place with a time of 1:29.59.

Senior, Townsend finished in first place in the 200 yard free (1:37.60) and the 100 yard free with a time of 44.54.

Subirats also finished in first place in two other events. Those events were the 100 yard backstroke (48.19) and the 100 yard butterfly (47.96).

Arizona's Josh Arreguin had two first place finishes when he finished with top times in the 100 yard breaststroke (55.15) and the 200 yard breaststroke (1:59.54).

Freshman, Cory Chitwood's time of 1:49.62 was quick enough for a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly. Chitwood also finished in first place in the 200 yard backstroke. His time was 1:46.02.

Finishing off the day on the swimming side of the meet was the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Joel Greenshields, Marcus Titus, Jake Tapp and Nicolas Nilo. Their time of 1:22.64 was fast enough for a first place finish.

On the 1-meter dive, Arizona's Ben Grado finished in first place with 348.38 points. Teammate Matt Bisordi finished in second (320.70). It was the same one two on the 3-meter dive. Grado finished in first with 356.03 points and Bisordi finished in second with 337.50 points.

he No. 4 Arizona women's swimming team finished their dual meet season off on a good note with a victory over No. 16 Arizona State. The score of the meet was 177-111.

Arizona's 200 yard medley relay team got the Cat's off to a good start with a win in the event. The team was Ana Agy, Annie Chandler, Lara Jackson and Lacey Nymeyer. Their time was 1:40.65.

Nymeyer finished in first place in two other events. Her time of 1:48.05 was the top time in the 200 yard freestyle. In the 100 yard freestyle she swam a 49.53 which was fast enough for the top spot.

Arizona's Jacquelyn Craft finished in first place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:02.12) and the 200 yard breaststroke 2:14.80.

The Arizona women took the top three spots in the 100 yard backstroke. Finishing in first was Justine Schluntz (54.94), finishing in second was Ana Agy (55.39) and Caitlin Iverson finished in third with a time of 56.44.

Anna Turner's time of 22.81 was fast enough for a first place finish in the 50 yard free. She finished in second place in the 100 yard free. Her time was 50.41.

Freshmen, Susanna Helms finished in first place in both the 1000 yard free (10:03.41) and the 500 yard free. Helms' time in the 500 yard free was 4:55.87.

In the women's 1-meter dive, Arizona's Holly Kast finished in first place with 262.50 points. Teammate Alison Scaife finished in second (258.45).
